The Chocolate Fudge Cake
A couple of weeks ago, a friend posted on her Facebook wall that she would like a Chocolate Fudge Cake and asked who wanted to make one for her. Being the generous sort I am, I volunteered myself. I had an ulterior motive, being on a diet/healthy eating plan I thought that making a cake that I couldn't eat might help me get over some cravings.
It didn't.
The cake was so lovely however, that the friend I made it for started eating it in the car by planting her face into the cake! This is why the only picture I have of the cake is one half eaten...
So if you want to make this cake yourself, and delight your friends or family here is how I did it.
Ingredients
3oz Cocoa Powder
8fl oz Hot Milk
7oz Self Raising Flour
3 Eggs
5oz Butter
10oz Sugar
Method
Start by heating up the milk (the microwave does wonders) and mixing the cocoa powder with it to make a very small hot chocolate. Add this to the flour and mix well before adding the eggs again mixing until everything is combined.
Resist dipping your fingers in the cake mix.
Add the butter and the sugar to the mixture and whilst you mentally calculate how many calories you are burning by mixing this by hand and wondering why you aren't using something that requires power.
Once the cake batter is well and truly mixed pour into two cake pans which you have lined the bottom of with greaseproof paper and buttered the sides. Put into the Oven which has preheated at gas mark 4.
Bake the cakes for twenty minutes before swapping the pans to the other shelves and cook for a further twenty minutes.
Allow the cakes to cool before filling with your favourite filling (I'm a fan of Chocolate butter icing personally) and covering with your favourite covering and then if you're like my friend try very hard to not dive into it head first!
