My Top Ten Christmas Carols
A few days ago, I asked my friends on Facebook if they were to read a blog post written by me, what would they like it to be about? This is one of the posts, based on those suggestions.
I am of the firm belief that Christmas Carols should be sung all year round. Unfortunately my family and friends are of the firm belief that I am wrong.
Bah humbug to them.
With my love of Christmas Carols (and Christmas Music in general) it was with great pleasure that I read that Claire wanted me to write a blog post about my top ten favourite Christmas Carols. I did think about making a joke here about Carol Vorderman and Carol Smillie, but that would just be stupid.
What carol is heard in the desert?
The problem at the start of this blog post, was that I wasn't sure if I could narrow my choice down to just ten. Then as I thought about what made a carol a carol and what made me love certain ones, I wasn't sure I could make it to ten!
In no particular order, here are my Top Ten.
Silent Night
Away in a manger
O little town of Bethlehem
Hark! The herald angels sing
While Shepherds watched their flocks
The first Noel
The Holly and the Ivy
Ding Dong Merrily on high
O Come All Ye Faithful
We Three Kings
Now, I know that just listing them is a little boring but honestly I tried explaining what made me love certain ones and funny stories, but this post ended up so long that I figured you'd all die from old age before getting to the end!
However, because I know you are all itching to have at least one story here is a bonus for you. Back in 2009 I took part in a competition in a local high street, where we had to sing, I did blog about it but I didn't have the video until now... so, here is your bonus In The Bleak Midwinter being sung by me!
Be nice now!
