Being Proactive
My word of the year for 2016 is Proactive.
I want to be someone who doesn't procrastinate as much as I do, but someone who takes charge of her life and deals with situations head on.
I don't want the dishes to sit on the side for days.
I don't want the bins to not be emptied for weeks.
I don't want to be dealing with paperwork months after it arrived.
I want to be the best me and I think that my word for the year will help me on to the right path.
I spoke to Daddy about it. I explained how I came up with the idea, how I'd thought about it for a few days and tried on different words for size. We talked about a few words, and their different meanings and how they would relate to how I wanted to be.
In the end he agreed that Proactive was the right word for me for this year.
It's funny, how can one word be a catalyst for change in so many areas of my life? How can one word help remind me that I don't want to be someone scrabbling around dealing with the pieces after they have fallen?
How can one word change the habits of a lifetime?
I don't know if it can, if I'm honest. I do think however that the word (if displayed in places of prominence around my home and my life) can help remind me that this is what I want. That the changes I want to make are coming from me and that my friends, is hopefully going to be the key.
Do you have a word for the year? What is it and how did you decide on it?
