What We Are Eating W/C 5th March 2016
I have jokingly been telling the family that since we ate fish everyday in February (well actually that isn't true, there were a few last minute changes to the menu and we didn't eat Fish on Mondays) that during March we're going to eat Vegetarian everyday... Whilst I would love to do this, I think Tops and Daddy would revolt and well Daddy does a lot of chores around the house so I need him on side. I'll just wait until later in the year!
This month however, we are going to be trying to eat on a VERY tight budget.
Why?
Well, because we can. I'll explain more in another post, which will probably go live tomorrow. Now without much further ado, here is what we are eating this week!
The other week, when we saw that Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Take Away was returning I promised Top Ender we would have a meal in front of the TV.
At the time we were planning Chicken Wings, Onion Rings and Chips but I decided that we'd do the Chicken Wings, but class it up a little with a Side Salad and a Jacket Potato.
Oh Sunday Roast, how we have missed thee.
Still with a Roast today we'll be fed, happy and possibly not need to eat for the rest of the week.
Okay so Pasta Primavera sounds really cool right? Yeah, know what it means? Pasta with Vegetables! I love to cook it all in one pot. You take some Pasta, add some chopped fresh or frozen vegetables and cook it in one pot.
Ta-Dah!
I'll probably make a bit more than I should so that I can give it to the children for lunch tomorrow.
It's nice and simple and easy to make and as a bonus has a tonne of vegetables mixed in because that's how I like it!
I have a few cans in the cupboard and a few portions in the freezer of various different soups. The Children can decide which one they want and we'll go from there!
I'm not sure at the moment if I'm going to make the Casserole with rice or with Pasta, but either way I'll add some condensed soup, milk, some veg and either the rice or the pasta mix it together and cook it.
If I'm feeling extravagant, I'll sprinkle some breadcrumbs over the top and throw it into the oven to give it that lovely golden colour.
I do love making Meatloaf, and everyone loves eating it. I'm going to serve it how I think of it when I think of Meatloaf, with Mashed Potato and some form of green vegetable. Maybe Green Beans, maybe Broccoli. Maybe even just plain old Peas!
So that's what we're eating this week. How about you?
