Our Summer Projects

Image
The Children and I have been thinking about our Summer plans. In between bouts of camping we have a lot to get through, and the Children thought it might be prudent of me to write a blog post listing some of the things that we want to achieve so that not only are we being held accountable, but also so that we don't forget. Yup, that's how well my Children know me.

Saying Goodbye

Image
Last week, we travelled to Norfolk to St Faith's Crematorium to say goodbye to my Nan after her death on Dan Jon Jr's birthday. I really don't know what it is with relatives dying on my Children's birthdays, but I've always told my Children that this means they have a special bond with the relative who has died and that they will be like a Guardian Angel for them. I have no idea if this is true or not, but it brings my Children and I great comfort and I guess that was my intention in telling them this. The service was lovely. The officiant, spoke in that calm reassuring way that we've come to expect at Funerals and despite having never met him, I felt that his welcome was sincere. He let us mourn how we wanted. We laughed. We cried. We said goodbye. Flyfour, the Children and I had decided that instead of going to the official wake we would disappear off after the Funeral Service to Cromer Pier, a place that we visited with my Nan every time we went to vi...

What a week we have had. Well, not a week really just a couple of days I guess that were way more emotional than I thought it would be. I'm actually writing this post Wedding (it was a fantastic event and if it was my wedding I'd talk way more about it, but it's not so I shan't until I have permission) and have set up camp on the Sofa, watching White Collar (It's a great show right?) on Netflix whilst my lovely husband is cooking our evening meal... Which leads me on to our meal plans!

The Netflix Stream Team Challenge

Image
I watch a lot of Netflix, it is one of the brilliant benefits of having a TV in every room in my home and of course working from home. The Children and I tend to cuddle up on the Sofa once a week to watch something together and Top Ender, like me likes to have Netflix on in the background when she is working on something else in her room. So, when we were asked if we would like to be part of the Netflix Stream Team we were excited!

Hello Everyone! How are you? Despite what it seems like, I have actually been hard at work the last couple of weeks, mainly with small things but they are small things which make a big difference to the way we live in our home and hopefully the way that we will treat our home in the future... Yup you guessed it I've been clearing out more junk! Anyway, here is what we are eating this week! Saturday - BBQ and Snack bits We're having a BBQ at our local Church today at lunchtime and so that will technically be our main meal. Top Ender has invited a friend, so I expect that with Dan Jon Jr being on a Bouncy Castle for most of the time, Top Ender and her friend hanging out doing what ever it is that 12 year olds do at Church BBQ's that Flyfour and I might actually get a chance to talk to each other... I know right?

I can't believe that it is Saturday already. I mean, I know it comes round once a week and all, but this past week seems to have gone by so fast! Hopefully the next few weeks will be just as fast and we'll be celebrating the end of School and the start of Summer REALLY REALLY soon!

Night Time Alarms, Weird Noises And Unanswered Questions

Image
Call us overprotective, call us crazy, call us what ever you want but we do blood tests on Dan Jon Jr roughly every two hours over night, every night. Dan Jon used to be able to wake up if he felt low, but now he doesn't recognise if he is low when he is asleep and so every other night Flyfour and I take it in turns, so that the other one can have a few hours of uninterrupted sleep. Although, sometimes it doesn't work out that way, Flyfour normally turns the landing light on and that wakes me up. And because I try to do it all in the dark, I normally end up stubbing my toe on the bed which has me hopping round the bed and back to my side and that wakes Flyfour up.

Happy Families #Review

Image
A few weekends ago, I taught Dan Jon Jr how to play Happy Families. I'm not sure who taught me to play, but I suspect it was my Grandparents as they taught my Sister and I several card games and a few other parlour games to keep us amused at various family functions and when we went down the pub! Anyway, Dan Jon Jr and I had an amusing time playing together and he got really into the game developing a strategy almost straight away and was good enough to beat me!

Half term has been a great but quick week. Seriously, I blinked and the week was over. I think that because Flyfour was off at the start of the week and we had a day out with family and a day of medical appointments that our last day of the holiday (where we planned not to get dressed etc) just came round way too fast. Anyway, with the Children at home they helped me work out what was in the cupboards, freezer and fridge and we made a meal plan based around that!
