What We Are Eating W/C 7th October 2017
Well, hopefully if everything goes right, I should by now have a new cooker installed and have my kitchen tiled. I don't want to think about the possibility of this not having happened, so if everyone can will positive thoughts to me that would be great...
Also, you know having your kitchen completely ripped out is a great way to find out what you have in your cupboards and needs eating; Apparently I buy a lot of canned tomatoes and different varieties of pasta! With that in mind, here is my meal plan for the next week.
Well Tops is off again with the Guides, I swear the girl spends more time with her Rainbows, Guides and Brownies family than she does with her actual family! I did think about having Lasagne (her favourite) this evening, but in the end went with Burgers because Dan Jon and Flyfour love them.
I'm not sure what we'll have just yet, but I'm hoping for mushrooms and cheese in mine.
It's a Fast Sunday for Tops and I, so by the time we get home from Church we're hoping that Flyfour will have made a fantastic meal for us to all share. I'm hoping to get some Pork Crackling to go with what ever roast we have as a treat, but I'm not sure I'll manage it!
After Flyfour tried Gnocchi a few weeks back, he decided he did indeed like it. So we're having it again today. I'm making double the amount of the Gluten version (it's cheaper!) so the children can have it in their lunchboxes tomorrow and will check if Flyfour wants to take a packed lunch with him tomorrow. If so he can have some of the Gluten free version tomorrow!
Now that I have the best Fish Pie recipe ever and Flyfour loves it, Fish Pie is a dish that I'm regularly asked for when asking the family what to make for our evening meals.
I don't even feel guilty that it's one of my favourite dishes and so love making it! I'll put my recipe up in the next couple of weeks, be warned however I'm sure that the benefits of the fish might be negated by some of the other ingredients!
I have some tagliatelle in the cupboard, so I thought I'd pair it with some Pesto and have it for a meal this evening. I'm not sure if I'll add some chicken or prawns or leave it out entirely, but I will add some form of Vegetables. I'm thinking Courgette strips and possibly cherry tomatoes.
We're having soup and some home made rolls today. I'm going to bulk the soup out by adding some pasta to it. I'm thinking that it'll be Tomato Soup, but I'm not sure. I might see if there are some discounted vegetables that would make a good soup or just purchase some cans! It all just depends on how the family and I are feeling and the cost of the weekly shop by the time I get to the section of the shopping list I put this meal on!
I was really fancying a Nando's the other night and so Flyfour promised we'd have it at home in the next week or so. I'm scheduling it for tonight, because I'll make two small lasagnas for the children, as neither of them are particularly keen on Nando's at the best of times, and get Flyfour to make a Nando's style meal for him and I when he gets home from work.
Yum yum yum!
So that's what we're eating this week, how about you?
