Light The World 2018
For the last few years, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has encouraged its members to do something special each December. To take a few minutes out each day to serve others around them, to Light The World with goodness and happiness and to be like our Saviour, whose Birth it is we celebrate each Christmas.
It's actually, really amazing to do and if you are here reading this and you're not a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, then do it anyway! Spread some Christmas Cheer. I promise you that you will get so much more out of it than you put in.
Last year, Dan Jon really wanted to participate and as I had been the Primary President, I had come up with daily challenges for the children of the Ward, that were in the same vein as the adults were being asked to do, just a little easier and easier on the Parents to help facilitate too!
Dan Jon, without fail, took part each day, with minimal help from me.
He put up a poster at School, which featured encouraging quotes for students to rip off and keep on their person. He left treats with an elderly neighbour in secret. He asked a student whom he thought looked lonely to come and play with him. He did extra chores at home. He wrote a letter to people he thought needed an uplift.
With each act of service that he did, his smile got bigger, his sense of belonging in his community was more cemented. His Christmas spirit grew.

This year the campaign is slightly different, with the theme be "Give as He Gave". Each week, there is a different focus. Week one the focus is to Light The World and to give service to those in need around the world.
So, I'd like to invite you to take part too. Find out about it on Mormon.org, download a calendar to help you remember the different themes each week (although I'm going to be posting about them each week too) and check out the #LightTheWorld hashtag on different Social Media platforms to see what others are doing and hopefully inspire you too.

Week three, to Light your Family and in Week four, it is to Light your faith and everyone is invited to join us for a one hour service at their local meeting house.
