Week Three Light Your Family

This week the focus for the Light The World campaign is to Light Your Family. The video for this week makes me cry, every time I watch it. I warn you, you may need tissues for those onion cutting ninjas.

Isn't that beautiful? It perfectly shows the youth of our Church. The youth are so kind, caring, loving and not just to their families and friends.

This week, the idea is to serve your family or to light your family, with acts of kindness and love. It could be phoning your parents, writing a note to tell someone how much you love them, or something simple like spending time with your family, maybe doing something they enjoy but you don't!

As you probably know, I am a great believer in Family Time. We have Family Home Evening once a week, where we have a small lesson together. Sometimes it is on something Gospel related, sometimes on things we think the children might need a reminder on or things we want them to learn as we think they will need the skill in the future. It's not just once a week though, we eat our meals together, we read together, we catch up with each and share things that have happened in our day.

Family time is sacred time and should be protected and respected. President Boyd K Packer.

It's doing the small things, putting away someone's washed and paired socks, cooking a favourite meal, taking another family members plate through, doing another person's chores, cleaning a car or making sure that when someone comes in the house they are greeted, or kissed goodbye when they leave.

Week four, the focus is to Light your faith and everyone is invited to join us for a one hour service at their local meeting house on December 23rd. Locations and times for these services at the meeting houses of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints can be found in the meeting house locator on LDS.org.

So, I'd like to invite you to take part too. Find out about it on Mormon.org, download a calendar to help you remember the different themes each week (although I'm going to be posting about them each week too) and check out the #LightTheWorld hashtag on different Social Media platforms to see what others are doing and hopefully inspire you too.
