A Visit To *The* British Lawnmower Museum
Last September we visited the British Lawnmower Museum in Southport.
We first found out about the British Lawnmower Museum back in 2018, when we were watching Monkman & Seagull's Genius Guide to Britain and they visited the Museum. Flyfour and I immediately wanted to go, the children, however, weren't too sure. By some weird coincidence, we happened to be going to Southport a few weeks later but completely forgot to go to the Museum, so had to wait an entire year for another visit to Stockport so we could go.
I can't believe that I haven't written about our visit already because it seriously was one of the best Museums I've ever been to and this is coming from someone who is planning a return trip to Amsterdam because she fell in love with the Nemo Science Museum, which is another blog post I probably should write soon...
Anyway. The British Lawnmower Museum.

I'm so glad we did.
I don't think they make museums like the British Lawnmower Museum anymore, which is a shame because one mans passion is another child's weirdly specific nightmare or in the case of Flyfour and I, a kitsch dream.
We spent ages wandering around, looking at different items on display, remembering items that our grandparents had, or our neighbours had, or we saw on TV or even items our families owned during our childhood.
We looked at items donated by various famous people, we wrote in the visitor book and we laughed that we had just missed a celebrity who had been in the museum only an hour before. We took photos, we listened to the recorded tour guide and we just enjoyed seeing the items on display.
Bt the end of our visit, even the children begrudgingly admitted that they had enjoyed their visit and even agreed to a return visit the next time we go to Stockport (which won't be until 2021 now because our 2020 event has been cancelled).
I call that a win.
