What We're Eating W/C 29th February 2020
I can't believe it is already the end of the month and we have completed our challenge of Cereal for a month. The good news is that it was WAY more successful than the month of Salads last year and the bad news is that Top Ender has reacted well to not having dairy products over the last month and so we are now a gluten-free and dairy-free family.
Well, I guess that isn't really bad news... it's just another thing we're going to get used to!
We're having a carb-free meal tonight to check Dan Jon's basal rates, which will not make Dan Jon happy, but as always he'll eat and not complain because he does like Salad and he does like Chicken, it's just that he won't be having a weekend treat and that's not something that he's happy about!
It feels like ages since we had Salmon, so I'm going to get Flyfour to make it today. Along with crispy potatoes and some kind of vegetable.
Well, they aren't really ready meals, they are actually leftovers that we've frozen and I figured would be good to be eaten tonight as Flyfour isn't here. There is a portion of leftover Cottage Pie, a Casserole, some meatballs, and I'm pretty sure a portion of Sweet and Sour Chicken which I'm totally having. Finders Keepers Baby!
I'll set these going in the Slow Cooker in the morning, which means by the time I get home they will be ready for us to serve. There will be plenty of different toppings available, but I have a feeling that the children will go for beans, whilst I'll go for just butter.
I'll serve the potatoes with a side of Salad, because who doesn't love a bit of Salad with a Jacket Potato?
Dan Jon will fend for himself whilst Top Ender and I go to Rainbows and Brownies and I'm not sure where Flyfour will be, but where ever he is, he can have cereal too!
Before Top Ender goes off to Guides, I figure a nice Chicken Wrap with Salad (yes again!) and some fries would be fun, tasty and more importantly something that Dan Jon can cook with me as we've agreed he'll start doing some extra chores in the near future and one of them was cooking a meal once a week!
So, once a month we've decided we'll go to Costco and get one of their "ready meals" for our evening meal. It's cheaper than a takeaway, I have a feeling that it is healthier than a lot of takeaways and it's a lot of fun to walk around Costco together!
So, that's what we are eating this week, what are you eating or what do you think we should be eating?!
